Importing stock(s)

If you do not want to add every new stock one at a time, you can also try to import one of the existing CSV-files we have added to this program, or import a CSV-file from your own. Registered users will have access to CSV files from all over the world, including world indexes and their components.

Import CSV-file

To import stocks from a CSV file you click on the "Dropdown" button on the right of your screen and select the "Symbols..." menuitem. The program will open the "Setup" dialog and display a table with all stocks that are already available.
Now click on the "Import..."-button on the right. You will have the oportunity to select one of the CSV files that are already installed on your computer. Select the CSV file you like and click on the "Open"-button to import the selected file. Stocks which are already in you AlertTAPE will be skipped.

Import using drag/drop

You can also "drop" a CSV-file directly on the AlertTAPE, the program will automatically import all stocks from this file. This feature may become very usefull when importing CSV-files that are attached to an e-mail message.

CSV file format

For those who do not know CSV files : it is a (Comma Separated Value) text file where all data is separated by a comma. The CSV files are available from sites all over the world (Yahoo, ...). Creating your own CSV files can be done with Excel. Your CSV file should look like this :

  • <SYMBOL>;<NAME>
  • ^DJI;DOW JONES
  • ^IXIC;NASDAQ
  • ^NDX;NASDAQ 100
  • ^OEX;S&P 100
  • ^GSPC;S&P 500
